Good attendance and honored guests
President Peterson called the meeting to order and asked Secretary Justin Jenkins to recognize guests present at the meeting. The Club was honored to have District Rotary Governor Ed Charlesworth and his wife Robin; John Newhouser, guest of Keith Peterson; David Feldmeyer's wife, Mary, daughter Jessica and grandson Logan Harris; Zack Culp; Buddy Jones, Bear Creek Rotary Club; Sara Reiland, Mike Reiland's mother;Tiffany Moore, prospective member; Barbara Cadence, Tiffany's mother; Ricardo Nolan, of the Bacolod City, Philippines Rotary Club and his son Keith.
Good News was reported by a number of members and guests.
Tiffany Moore was delighted that her husband has found a new job.
Stan Carr mentioned that he and his wife were leaving for a month-long vacation and he would be visiting Rotary clubs in Canada and taking the gnome.
Dr Sammy Tao shared that his wife would be back home this Thursday from an extended trip.
Glen Rowe mentioned that our club's new exchange student from Denmark would be arriving this week and he also indicated that another exchange student from Poland would also be coming shortly to enroll at Jersey Village High School. Both young men are sponsored by our club, so you will be meeting them in the near future.
Mike Reiland shared that his new surgery went well and that he was on the mend.
Ray Young mentioned the success of the recent Membership Seminar and that our Club would have had the largest attendance of any Rotary Club if it had been based on percentage.
Keith Peterson indicated that the recent benefit at Cypress Veterinary Hospital to assist Jennifer Reed's medical rehabilitation after a bad motorcycle accident in Colorado was a success. The accompanying picture shows several members with the water bottles that we distributed at the benefit.
Charles Durrenberger shared that he and Gwen would be leaving for their cruise to Panama.
Justin Jenkins described his recent Roaming Gnome episode at the Greenspoint Rotary Club which only had 4 members in attendance. He said it made him appreciate out larger, more lively group.
Vicki Rowe recognized the work Sandra Peterson, Keith's wife, had put into making the display of the Gnome Project for the recent Membership Seminar.
Tom Benson, past club President offical "pinned" Ray Young for being last year's Rotarian of the Year. Ray's pin was a bit late arriving!
Mike Castro, who had been unable to attend the year-end banquet, was presented with a plaque for his "Service Above Self" contributions.
Finally Keith Peterson praised Tom Benson for all his good work during the past year.
