Our program included an interesting speaker and a lively discussion of health care options.
We had three guests at today's meeting, Chesley Rockett, our speaker, Sandra Peterson, and Philip Workman, a visiting Rotarian from Anadarko, OK.

Keith made several announcements. He informed us that the opportunity to participate in teh Las Lomas water project slipped through our fingers as the slots filled before we could get our request in.

The Bear Creek/Copperfied club has requested to sponsor one of our four Interact clubs.

Pam Scott with the Cy Fair ISD VIPS program has requested that we adopt an elementary school. She also wants our club to participate in the Bus Buddies program the first few days of school.

Keith also informed us of a fundraiser called Harlem Ambassadors and promised to get more information.

The Roaming Gnome program is going well and several people requested gnomes and bags so that they could make visits in the next week.

Our speaker, Chesley Rockett, told us about the National Write Your Congressman initiative which is an unbiased apolitical organization that works to foster meaningful communication between Congressmen and their constituents. He suggested that we log on to NWYC.com and begin letting our leaders know how we feel about the legislation they are considering. He did not tell us at the meeting, but Gwen Durrenberger later found out that there is a $4.25 charge for joining the web site.

A discussion of the health care bills that are being written at this time followed and several members expressed strong opinions making for an interesting forum.
