October 19th Meeting

We had a wonderful speaker, Laura Wilkinson, Olympic gold medalist in platform diving. The meeting was well attended and everyone enjoyed Laura's speech about how she fought back from an injury that happened only months before Olympic Trials. Her gold medal, won in 2000, was her reward for years of dedication. She also acknowledged that the support of her family, teammates, and coach were crucial in her success. Laura is a dynamic speaker who allowed us to relive her gold medal performance through her vivid descriptions of the experience. Her overall message to us was never to give up on a dream. She signed autographs and allowed us to wear her gold medal in pictures taken with her. (See accompanying picture of Gwen Durrenburger with Laura.) It was a very memorable program.
